During his long career, His extensive experience has been gained both onsite and through desk-based design work, with construction experience during the recess at university and  seven years spent in construction, plus over 33 years of office-based design work, that underpins a practical approach applied to both designs and structural reports.

Construction projects have ranged from major civil engineering contracts to domestic buildings and surveys.  Office-based design experience includes working for an established Structural Engineering Consultant in Bedford, and subsequently opening and running the regional office for a national Civil and Structural Engineering Practice in Suffolk.  He has also managed property developments for a National PLC, and in 1997 established Stroud Associates.

Stroud Associates Ltd’s work encompasses a wide range of projects, including barn conversions, general surveys and reports on domestic structures, timber roof and condition of wall reports, with recommendations and repairs.  Also large commercial construction, and development projects in the region of £1.0-5.0 Million.  Members of the team are fully conversant with all currently used structural materials, codes, regulations and British and European Standards.

Stroud Associates Ltd supports continuing professional development (CPD) and actively invests in modern developments and new techniques to broaden and enhance experience and expertise.  He has served on the committee of the local branch of the Institution of Structural Engineers. He has reviewed new publications for the Institution of Structural Engineers.

Director, Stroud Associates Ltd

He gained several years’ experience on construction sites prior to his 40 years in design working as a Consulting Engineer, and in conjunction with precast concrete manufacturers.  The work that he has undertaken with some of the major precast concrete manufacturing companies have included the design of pre-stressed concrete elements, as well as non-standard concrete structures such as spiral staircases, concrete elements in sports stadiums and precast concrete basements, with the appropriate attendant temporary works.

During his work with the Civil Engineering Department of WS Atkins and partners in Epsom, he worked on a variety of large projects, including underground concrete structures and foundations for heavy industrial  structures in steelmaking plants, power stations and defence installations.  Four years in an established Structural Engineering Consultants office in Bedford, provided experience ranging from commercial to office blocks to nursing homes, and new build housing to refurbishment of town centre department stores.  Fifteen years ago, he joined Stroud Associates.

Projects include new build school extensions and prestige housing, barn conversions and house extensions, in addition to domestic surveys and reports.  He also works on large commercial construction and development projects for multinational clients and is fully conversant with all currently used structural materials, codes, regulations and British and European standards.

He has worked on surveying of the A11 Bypass for Barton Mills. For the next twenty years he worked as a Precast Concrete Designer/Draughtsman, Software Engineer and IT Manager, before joining Stroud Associates in 2007.

Drainage is his specialist area, and he has worked on several large-scale projects, using MicroDrainage packages.

He joined the company on gaining his degree at Anglia Ruskin University and is working towards Chartership in both Institutions of Civil and Structural Engineers. He now has five years' experience and now runs smaller projects under the mentorship of the Managing Director.

He is the newest member of the Engineering Team, joining Stroud Associates after graduating from Portsmouth University and is working towards his Chartership. He works independently on small projects and is part of the design team on larger projects. He is mentored by the Managing Director.

Administration Team

PA To The Director & Office Manager 

She is in charge of the office administration and works closely with the Directors to provide a reliable and efficient turn around of our work and manage visits. She will generally be your main point of contact as the directors are working Engineers and can be frequently out on visits.

Book Keeper and Credit Control 

Any queries out of her hours can be raised with the Office Manager.
